New York, NY - December 15, 2002 - dotsperinch is pleased to announce the launch of EarSay.org - the first of a pair of websites for EarSay artists Warren Lehrer and Judith Sloan. Drawing upon EarSay's distinct visual and aural languages, dotsperinch has developed a playfull landscape of animated typography and audio surprises that invite the visitor to explore the dynamic range of the organization's various projects, performances, and events. Warren and Judith came to dotsperinch for a website to accompany their project "Crossing the BLVD: Strangers, Neighbors, Aliens in a New America" - a multi-media project that documents and portrays the largely invisible lives of new immigrants and refugees who live in the borough of Queens, New York, the most ethnically diverse locality in the United States. The voices, images and sounds collected for the Crossing the BLVD book, radio documentaries, website and performances form a portrait of a paradoxical and ever-changing America. Watch for the launch of the BLVD website next spring to coincide with the publishing of the book by WW Norton Publishers, and an installation at the Queens Museum next fall accompanying an exhibit of photographic portraits from the project. about EarSayEarSay is an artist driven non-profit arts organization dedicated to uncovering and portraying stories of the uncelebrated. Their projects bridge the divide between documentary and expressive forms in books, exhibitions, on stage, in sound & electronic media. They are committed to fostering understanding across cultures, generations, gender and class through artistic productions and education. |
